2009 HUGHESVILLE HALLOWEEN PARADE
The Greater Hughesville Business Association will once again be sponsoring the Hughesville Halloween Parade. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009. The parade will form at 5:00 PM at the Hughesville High School parking lot and will move at 5:30 PM, ending at the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Company. Anyone wishing to enter a float or walk in the parade is welcome, and judging and prizes will be awarded during parade line-up in several different categories. Trick or Treating in Hughesville Borough will take place following the parade from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
2009 GHBA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS GRANTED
Each year the Greater Hughesville Business Association awards scholarships to one boy and one girl graduating from East Lycoming High School who plan to pursue a business major in college. Congratulations to Hughesville seniors Daniel R. Fritz and Kelsey R. Ritter, the 2009 recipients of the GHBA scholarships worth $750 each. Kelsey Ritter is the daughter of Wayne and Joni Ritter. After graduation she plans to attend Lycoming College to major in Business Administration. Dan Fritz is the son of Gregory and Susan Fritz. Following graduation Dan will be attending Misericordia University to major in Marketing. Good luck to both Kelsey and Dan on their future endeavors!
11th ANNUAL GHBA GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 11th Annual Greater Hughesville Business Association Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Mill Race Golf Course in Benton, PA. Shotgun starts at 1:00 PM (please arrive no later than 12:30PM to register). The format is a four-person scramble. A meal will be served at the Moose following the tournament. 2008 HALLOWEEN PARADE
The Halloween parade was a huge success! Cider and donuts were served to all participants after the parade at the Hughesville Fire Hall. Homemade donuts were provided by the Hughesville Rotary. Thank you to Donah Sullivan and Carlene Mausteller for working the cider table. This year's judges were Cindy Shaner and Bob Simmons. Cider was donated by Cathy Gardner, Donah Sullivan, Denise Swank, Jill Warg, Jane Waldman, Wendy Daugherty, and Denise Aderhold. Cups and napkins were provided by Sullivan's Service Station.

First Place Float: Hughesville Hillbillies - Don Johnson & Friends ($50.00 prize)
Second Place Float: Jurassic Scout Camp - Cub Scout Pack 80, Leader Aaron Bassler ($30 prize)
Third Place Float: Wendy Armstrong & Friends ($20 prize)
Most Original: Zachary Little - Robot ($20 prize)
Scariest: Kyle Little ($20 prize)
Prettiest: Alyvia Knorr ($20 prize)
Ugliest: Libby Armstrong ($20 prize)
Best Walking Group: Lisa Little & Crew ($30 prize)
A $50 donation was also made to the Hughesville High School Band for participating in this year's parade.
